Part of the Envirotile Synthetic Slate system

Envirotile tiles interlock with adjacent and under tiles to form a more secure integrated roof covering, and uses a reduced lap that can require just 12 tiles per square metre; so reduces weight, material cost and work. Reduced weight means cheaper transportation, reduced CO² transport emissions and less structural roof requirement. Being easy to work with and approximately 50% the weight of other synthetic tiles, makes Envirotile the perfect choice for creating an authentic looking conservatory roof conversion.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, Envirotile synthetic slate is easier to work with than traditional slate and is a complete dry fix system that requires no cement. Part of a complete solution that includes ridge, verge and eaves products.

Did you know? The Envirotile is also available as a Half Tile and Double Tile. Half Tiles can be used to initiate a weatherproof broken bond, finishing the verge, and for detailing around abutments or flashings. Double Tile can be used as a discreet filler tile for long sections, and are recommended on the ends of each course; this is especially important on hipped faces to ensure that first and last tiles have adequate fixing points.

Fitting Envirolay and the Envirotile 8Fix Synthetic Plastic Roofing

Envirolay should be fitted with at least 100mm lap over felt support tray, and at least 150mm lap over each course. Envirolay tape (GSPDST) can be used to seal overlap for added protection against uplift during heavy winds. Starting on the right, roll out and fix to centre of rafters with clout nails. Ensure 10-15mm sag between rafters to allow any moisture build up to run down. Envirolay should be finished 25mm short of the ridge apex, and 150mm up wall face of any abutment.

Envirotiles which are extremely simple to fix, with slide locks for quick alignment and security, should be laid using the 3-step layout procedure. Envirotiles can be cut equally well with hand saw or power saw, without releasing harmful dust during cutting. Half tiles, double tiles and unique eaves bar reduces material cost and work, with no need for an eaves course. The manufacturer has produced a detailed fitting guide to cover residential and commercial property, and we will be creating a dedicated Conservatory Roof Conversion Tiling Guide to support it.
